Dead halo rising

a brief history

Dead Halo Rising are five mates brought together by friendship, a shared love of rock music and one simple idea — get in a room, turn the amps up and see what happens.

The story began more than a decade ago after a night out at a gig in Camden. Davidoff and his brother Marcus met Karlos, and after a few drinks the usual conversation between musicians began: “We should get together and have a jam sometime.”

Unlike most drunken promises, this one actually happened.

Marcus brought along his friends Freddie and Stephan, completing the five-piece line-up: Davidoff on vocals and rhythm guitar, Marcus on lead guitar, Karlos on drums, Stephan on bass and Freddie on keyboards.

From the first jam, something clicked. A guitar riff became a song. One song became two, then three, and before long the band were spending weekend after weekend writing, playing and recording. Davidoff and Karlos formed the main songwriting partnership, with the whole band bringing their own character to the music.

Within a matter of weeks, they had created enough material for an album.

Then life happened.

Work, families, health and everyday responsibilities took over. Weeks became months, months became years, and the recordings were left unfinished. Dead Halo Rising were never chasing fame, a record contract or dreams of becoming rock stars, so there was no pressure or deadline. They were simply five mates who loved making rock music together.

But the songs never disappeared.

Years later, Davidoff returned to the recordings, working on them whenever life allowed, producing and completing the music that the five friends had started all those years before.

Dead Halo Rising were finally alive again.

Their music is built around big guitars, driving drums, powerful melodies and huge choruses, but underneath the volume are songs about friendship, life, regret, resilience, memories and refusing to stay down when life hits hard.

That journey has now produced Built With Blood, a 12-track rock album that captures what Dead Halo Rising have always been about.

There is no manufactured image and no attempt to follow whatever happens to be fashionable. It’s simply the sound of five mates making the kind of rock music they grew up loving.

Dead Halo Rising are:

Davidoff — Vocals / Rhythm Guitar / Producer / Engineer / Writer
Marcus — Lead Guitar / Backing Vocals
Karlos — Drums / Co-Writer
Stephan — Bass / Backing Vocals
Freddie — Keyboards / Backing Vocals

It may have taken more than ten years to get here, but perhaps that’s exactly what Dead Halo Rising is about.

Five mates.
One love of rock music.
No chase for fame.
No pretending to be something they’re not.

Just songs that were too important to leave unfinished.
